DIY Valentine Butterflies #TBCcrafters

I had a different craft in mind for this week, but I knew that it would take a lot more time and thought to create, so I set it aside, mainly because of time, but also because I have been itching to create a Valentine's Day Craft for my girls. All day I searched the web for adorable valentine creations, but came up empty, then I realized I had some valentine pencils and doilies (that I had purchased with a craft in mind)... I searched the web some more for valentines that included pencils, I wasn't pleased with the results. My two older girls, Isis and Janelle are pre-teen/teen and though they love receiving gifts, I wanted it to suit their age as well. So what I am about to share with you is a creation that morphed into a beautiful butterfly after a long day of pondering... I hope you like it!

Materials
Heart Shaped Paper Doilies
Craft Thread (Pink and White)
Valentine Themed Pencils (2)
Ultra Thin Sharpie Marker (various shades~optional)
Tape
Glue Tape
Scissors

Instructions

Tape the two doilies together at each point, by applying glue tape to one tip and then overlap each point and set aside.

Take an equal piece of pink and white craft thread and tie know around the tip of the pencils to bind them together, be sure to make long enough to have extra strands at the ends. Tie knots at the end of the extra strands.

Use a piece of tape to attach pencils to the connected points at the center of the doilies and bring the loose strands above the pencils to create the antennas

Now my doilies came with a design in them, after I finished creating the "butterfly" I thought it could use something, so I decided to "color" the design to make it more like a butterfly and to make it pop!

I initially wanted to make them into a scroll, but I am worried that they'll tear, I'm considering laminating them so that the wings won't wilt and then attaching the pencils. If you have any ideas, I welcome them, because I'm at a loss right now....

Until Next Time,
